Let us be hard in mind, in manners gentle.
Softness of mind makes silly, sentimental.
An error is never properly refuted until it is uprooted. In other words truly to overcome an error one needs to show not only that it is an error, but why it is an error. Let us suppose, with last week's “Comments”, that the June 28 statement of the Superior General of the Society of St Pius X, by looking forward to the Society's pious priesthood resolving the Church's crisis of Faith, commits the error of putting the cart of the priesthood before the horse of the Faith. Then let us show that this error has its roots in our age's almost universal undervaluing of the mind and overvaluing of the will, resulting even unconsciously in a scorn for doctrine (except for the Beatles' doctrine of “All you need is luv”).
Already towards the beginning of the Statement there occurs a hint of this error when the Statement says that the central principle condemned in Pascendi, Pius X's great condemnation of modernism, is that of “independence”. No. The principle he constantly condemns as being at the root of modernism is rather agnosticism, the doctrine that the mind can know nothing behind what appears to the senses. Upon that unknowing follows the independence of the mind from its object, followed in turn by the will's declaration of independence from everything else on which it does not want to depend. It is in the nature of things that the mind must first be suicided before the will can declare its independence. So when the Statement puts independence before agnosticism at the heart of Pascendi, that is a hint that the Statement is a part rather of the Church's problem than of its solution.
And where does this downgrading of the mind and doctrine in turn come from ? Primarily from Luther who called human reason a “prostitute”, and who more than anybody else launched Chistendom on its sentimental path to its self-destruction today. But that took all of 500 years ? Yes, because there was natural and Catholic resistance along the way. But Luther was right when he told the Pope that in the end he would destroy him – “Pestis eram vivus, functus tua mors ero, Papa” – A plague to you I was when I had breath, But once I'm dead, O Pope, I'll be your death.
To this radical and gigantic error of the downgrading of mind and doctrine may be attributed two sub-errors in the case of the author of the June 28 Statement: firstly, his misunderstanding of Archbishop Lefebvre, and secondly his too great understanding of Madame Cornaz (pen-name Rossinière).
Like many of us seminarians in Écône when Archbishop Lefebvre himself presided there, Bernard Fellay was rightly enchanted and bewitched by the outstanding example before our very eyes of what a Catholic priest could and should be. But the backbone of his priesthood and of his heroic fight for the Faith was not his piety – many modernists are “pious” – but his doctrine, doctrine of the eternal priesthood, profoundly allergic to liberalism and modernism. Nor did the Archbishop ever say that his Society would save the Church. Rather its priests were to safeguard the Church's priceless treasures for better days.
The person who did say that the Society's priests would save the Church, as Fr Ortiz has reminded us, was Madame Cornaz, a family mother from Lausanne, Switzerland, whose life spanned most of the 20th century, and who between 1928 and 1969 received communications supposedly from Heaven on how married couples should sanctify the priesthood (!). The communications started again in 1995 (!) when she met a Society priest whom she persuaded, and through him Bishop Fellay, that it was the SSPX priests who were destined by Providence to save the Church by propagating her “Homes of Christ the Priest”. With all his authority the Superior General supported her project, but the negative reaction of Society priests made him rapidly renounce it in public. Inwardly however, did her mystical vision of the Society's exalted future stay with him ? It seems quite possible. Like Martin Luther King, the Superior General “has a dream.”

When Father Pfluger speaks, what do we hear?
The religion of man, the Council, loud and clear.
Towards the end of last year, the second-in-command of the Newsociety of St Pius X, Fr. Niklaus Pfluger, gave an interview to a Newsociety magazine in Germany, Der Gerade Weg, in which he answered seven questions ranging over the Church, Tradition, the “Resistance” and the XSPX. Given his important position, his thinking cannot be without interest. Its main lines are presented here below, and then its main flaw.
The Catholic Church is broad, much broader than just the Traditional movement. This movement began in the 1970’s as an understandable reaction of Catholics rendered homeless by the Conciliar revolution, but we will never make Tradition attractive or convincing if we remain mentally stuck in the 1950’s or 1970’s. Catholic Tradition is a vast treasure, not to be confined within the condemnations, which were routine in the 19th and 20th centuries, of modernism, liberalism and Freemasonry. In the 1970’s and 1980’s the SSPX did act as a lifeboat for souls drowning, but in 2014 “our time is different, we cannot stand still.” Church Tradition is one, but traditions are many, and much that is modern is not immoral.
So “we must continually re-position ourselves,” somewhere between denying that there is any crisis of modernism at all in the Church, and denying Church reality, as does the “Resistance.” They turn a purely practical problem of re-positioning into a question of faith, but that “faith” is a fabrication of their own, subjective, personal and in extreme denial of reality — how can Rome not be Catholic? How can Bishop Fellay be Enemy Number One? Ridiculous! The “Resistance” is sectarian, narrow-minded, evil-spirited and divisive.
As for SSPXHQ having betrayed Tradition in 2012, its actions were attacked from both sides, so it acted with reasonable moderation. Its texts were not dogmatic, just responding to circumstances. It did depart from General Chapter decisions of 2006, but who back then could imagine how much less aggressive towards the SSPX Rome would become by 2012? In 2014 our three bishops could all celebrate public Masses in the Basilica of Lourdes!
In brief, the SSPX follows the Spirit, It draws on Tradition. It saved the liturgy (thanks to Archbishop Lefebvre). It is neither monopolistic, nor as disunited or defeated as it may seem. Storms in the Church do continue, but down with conspiracy theories and Apocalypticism, and up with faith, hope and a new youth! (See francefidele.org for the original in German, and a French translation; see abplefebvreforums or cathinfo.com for an English translation)
So where is the flaw in Fr Pfluger’s thinking? It is most clearly seen in the first paragraph above, where he suggests that Tradition can thrive outside of the “19th and 20th century condemnations of modernism, liberalism and Freemasonry.” For Fr Pfluger, as for all liberals, these condemnations are not integral to the Catholic Faith but merely “substantial anchorages” (Cardinal Ratzinger’s own expression), which in a different age the ship of the Church can leave behind, as corresponding no longer to the different circumstances. Therefore if Fr Pfluger does not have a different faith from that of Archbishop Lefebvre, Pius IX, St Pius X, Pius XII, etc., he certainly has a different concept of that Faith, and that different concept underlies all his remarks in the interview quoted.
Thus the problem is much more than just “practical re-positioning.” Today’s Rome is indeed not Catholic. Bishop Fellay is a huge problem. The 2006 General Chapter was implicitly dogmatic. Tradition is not to be made attractive to men, but true to God (mentioned only once, passingly, in the interview). The “Resistance” is far from creating its own “faith.” And so on and so on.

For today's Church authorities “there is no fixed truth, there is no dogma. Everything is evolving.” So said Archbishop Lefebvre (1905-1991) in 1991 (see last week's “Eleison Comments”). For at the end of his life the Archbishop saw more clearly than ever what he had been up against in his heroic defence of the Faith. Since then the liberals (unknown to themselves as such ?) who took over his Society of St Pius X as soon as he was gone, have still not understood the gravity of the problem as identified by the Archbishop. Therefore let these “Comments” open the New Year by attempting once more to lay open the mortal wound of today's Church and world.

When Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) erected man's refusal of God's reality into a philosophical system, based on his utterly false proclamation that the human mind cannot know the object as it is in itself, then the philosophy department of universities all over the world began to spill craziness into the streets, because people wanted to make freedom their god and Kant offered them the supreme liberation, that of the mind from its object.

Now Catholics not yet contaminated by the Kantian fantasy know that God and his Heaven exist quite outside of, and independently of, their little minds, and so if they want to be happy for eternity their minds had better deal in objective reality and not in subjective fantasy. Therefore for a century and a half a God-given series of anti-liberal Popes stood up to the liberal world going constantly more crazy all around, and these protected the Church from the prestigious and popular subjectivism. But by the 1950's the Church's cardinals and bishops were not praying enough to maintain this protection of their minds and hearts from the madness, known within the Church as “modernism”, and so in the conclave of 1958 they elected one of their own, the supposedly “good” John XXIII, a liberal (unknown to himself as such ? God knows), who duly launched in 1962 the disastrous Second Vatican Council.

Why disastrous ? Because the madness of subjectivism (the refusal of objective reality), instead of being still utterly condemned by the Church's highest authorities, was now adopted by them and made (consciously or unconsciously ? – God knows) into the official basis of Church doctrine and action. The problem could not be graver. The officials of God's true Church, appointed to proclaim and defend God's objective truths of salvation, were henceforth filtering these through their subjectivist minds. Imagine having nothing other than filthy bottles in which to store the best of wine. It can only be ruined. Today's Conciliar Church officials can only ruin God's truth.

But what has happened to Tradition without the Archbishop to guide it ? Alas, the authorities at the top of his Society of St Pius X, which for some 40 years spearheaded the defence of the objective Faith, cannot have been praying seriously enough to protect their minds and hearts from being in turn infected by subjectivism. They too have lost the primacy of objective truth, and so they are being played by the Romans like a fish is played by a fisherman. Archbishop Lefebvre, pray for us !

– God knows) into the official basis of Church doctrine and action." ).

Here is why the Archbishop said in 1991, “We are dealing with people (at the top of the Church) who have a different philosophy from ours, a different way of seeing, who are influenced by all modern subjectivist philosophers. For them, there is no fixed truth, no fixed dogma. Everything is evolving. This is really the Masonic destruction of the Faith. Fortunately we (Traditionalists) have Tradition to lean on.”

Archbishop Lefebvre, pray for us !

).苦難の時期に( "in stricken times" ),私たちがどうやってミサ聖祭の本当の犠牲(みさ せいさいの ほんとうの ぎせい)(訳注後記1)とカトリック教聖職の本分(かとりっく きょう せいしょくの ほんぶん)を保持(ほじ)し( "by preserving the true sacrifice of the Mass and the true Catholic priesthood" ),信仰を守るかを示す(しんこうを まもるかを しめす)ため( "to show us how to keep the Faith" )神が私たちに与えられた人物(わたしたちに あたえられた じんぶつ)がいるとすれば,その人は間違(まちが)いなくルフェーブル大司教(1950-1991年)(るふぇーぶる だいしきょう)( "Archbishop Lefebvre (1905-1991) " )です( "If there was one man given to us by God to show us how to keep the Faith in stricken times, by preserving the true sacrifice of the Mass and the true Catholic priesthood, that man was certainly Archbishop Lefebvre (1905-1991)." ).そして,第二公会議派の牧者たち(だいに こうかいぎはの ぼくしゃたち)( “the Consiliar Shepherds” )が教会にもたらした災難(きょうかいに もたらした さいなん)( “the disaster” )は大司教が存命中の頃(ぞんめいちゅうの ころ)から本質的(ほんしつ てき)になにも変(か)わっていないため,彼が話され,書き残されたこと(はなされ,かき のこされた こと)は本質的にそのまま現代(げんだい)にも当て(あて)はまります( "And since the disaster wrought upon the Church by the Conciliar Shepherds has not essentially changed since his time, then what he said and wrote applies essentially today, …" ).
だが,災難は変わらない(さいなんは かわらない)どころか,大司教の死後(だいしきょうの しご)もっとひどくなっています( "However, the disaster has also grown much worse since his death, …" ). )が,崩(くず)れかかっている教会主流派(きょうかい しゅりゅうは)の中(なか)で,破たん(はたん)しかかっている現実(げんじつ)から教訓を学ぶ(きょうくんを まなぶ)といいでしょう( "… and any so-called movement of “Resistance” today will do well to learn the lessons that are there to be learned from the threatening fall of that Society of St Pius X which it was the Archbishop’s stupendous achievement to found, within the collapsing mainstream Church, for the preservation of the Faith." ). SSPX の指導者(しどう しゃ)はなぜ同会を大司教の示した方向(しめした ほうこう)とまったく違う(ちがう)方向へ導(みちび)こうとしているのでしょうか?( "Why is the leadership of the SSPX now taking it in a direction different from the Archbishop’s, …" ) しかも彼らが目指す(めざす)方向をたどれば, SSPXは教会主流派と同じように崩壊へ向かう(ほうかいへ むかう)というのにです( "… a direction that must lead to the SSPX’s entirely similar collapse ? " ).
私の意見(わたくしのいけん)では,その理由(その りゆう)は,大司教の1991年の死後(しご), SSPX が1994年と2006年の総会(そうかい)( "the General Chapters of 1994 and 2006" )で選出した指導者たち(せんしゅつした しどうしゃたち)が公会議のもたらした災難を正確に受け止め(せいかくに うけとめ)なかったからです( "Because, in my opinion, the leaders which the SSPX chose for itself after the Archbishop’s death in 1991 at the General Chapters of 1994 and 2006, never took the full measure of the Conciliar disaster, …" ).そして,その理由は破壊(はかい)された1950年代や革命的(かくめいてき)1960年代以降(いこう)においてさえ,彼ら指導者たちがまだ子供(こども)だったからです( "… because they were children of the undermined 1950’s or the Revolutionary 1960’s and later still." ).彼らは革命期間中(かくめい きかん ちゅう),言(い)うなれば,母乳を飲んで(ぼにゅうを のんで)いたわけです( "Having drunk in the Revolution with their mothers’ milk, so to speak, …" ). ),あるいはあまりにも「敬虔深く(けいけん ふかく)」( “pious” )「超自然的(ちょうしぜんてき)」( “supernatural” )だったため( "… or have been too “pious” or “supernatural” to think that …" ) .
そのようなわけで,ルフェーブル大司教が公会議派教会(こうかいぎは きょうかい)はカトリック教会の四つの特徴( "four marks of the Catholic Church" )(かとりっく きょうかいの よっつの とくちょう)(唯一,神聖,普遍的,使徒的)( "(one, holy, catholic, apostolic)" )(ゆいいつ・しんせい・ふへんてき・しとてき)をすべて失(うしな)っているからカトリック教会(=公教会〈こうきょうかい〉)ではないと明確に判断(めいかくに はんだん)したのに対し( "Thus where Archbishop Lefebvre saw clearly that the Conciliar Church, by losing all four marks of the Catholic Church (one, holy, catholic, apostolic), was not the Catholic Church, …" Bishop Fellay (Superior General since 1994) and Fr Nicholas Pfluger (First Assistant since 2006) insist today that there can only be one Church, and so the Conciliar Church is the Catholic Church." そのため,当然(とうぜん)のことながら,大司教がSSPXと公会議派教会とのあいだに安全な距離(あんぜんな きょり)を保ち続けた(たもち つづけた)のに対し( "Naturally then, where the Archbishop kept the SSPX at a safe distance from the Conciliar Church, …" Bishop Fellay and Fr Pfluger want to abolish that distance and bring the SSPX back within that Church which is Conciliar." ).そして,二人(ふたり)はいずれも,その目的を成し遂げる(もくてきを なしとげる)までは,自(みずか)らがカトリック信徒(かとりっく しんと)だと感じる(かんじる)( “feel Catholic” )わけにはいかないのです( "And neither Bishop Fellay nor Fr Pfluger will feel Catholic until they have achieved that end."
だが,信仰(しんこう)は先ず初め(まず はじめ)に心の中(こころの なか)にあるものであり,感情の中(かんじょうの なか)にあるものではありません( "But the Faith is firstly in the mind and not in the feelings." ).したがって,いかなる理由(りゆう)にせよ,現SSPX指導部が間違った道を歩んで(まちがった みちを あゆんで)いると気づき始めた人(きづき はじめた ひと)は誰(だれ)でも革命,近代主義,第二バチカン公会議(かくめい・きんだい しゅぎ・だいに ばちかん こうかいぎ)についてのあらゆる問題点(もんだい てん)を学び続け(まなび つづけ)なければならないということになります( "It follows that whoever has, for whatever reason, begun to recognize that the present leadership of the SSPX is on the wrong track, must continue by studying the total problem of the Revolution, of modernism and of Vatican II." ). 革命については教科書(きょうかしょ)から得られる程度(えられる ていど)の知識(ちしき)はあっても,身近(みぢか)にはっきりと認識(にんしき)することはできないからです( "That is a tall order, because one can have a text-book knowledge of the Revolution and still not recognize it right under one’s nose. " ).私はほかの人々が気分爽快(きぶん そうかい)だと感(かん)じていると自分自身(じぶん じしん)も気分爽快になり( "I feel so nice when I feel that everybody else is nice …" ),神が私たちのほとんどについて客観的に偽って(きゃっかんてきに いつわって)いると見ている(みている)ことを見失って(みうしなって)しまいます( "… that I lose from view the objective falsity of almost all of us as seen by God." ).神が偽りと見ている(いつわりとみている)ことを私たちが慈悲心を失わずに理解(じひ しんを うしなわずに りかい)するには,神の特別の恩寵(かみの とくべつな おんちょう)がなければ無理(むり)だという人(ひと)がいるかもしれません( "One may say that it requires a special grace from God to see that falsity as he sees it, without losing one’s compassion, …" ).だが,人はとりわけ祈り(いのり)のなかで神を真剣に求め(かみを しんけんに もとめ)れば神の恩寵を得られる(かみの おんちょうを えられる)ものです( "… but a soul can obtain that grace if it seeks God seriously, especially in prayer." ).
神は神を求める者に優しい(かみは かみを もとめる ものに やさしい)と,聖書(せいしょ)はいたるところで述べて(のべて)います( "God is good to those that seek him, says Scripture in many places." ).神が存在(かみが そんざい)するとすれば,神を求める者にとって神ほど優しい存在(そんざい)はほかにあるでしょうか?( "Assuming he exists, what could he be other than supremely good to those that seek him ?

EC 348)." ).苦難の時期に( "in stricken times" ),私たちがどうやってミサ聖祭の本当の犠牲(みさ せいさいの ほんとうの ぎせい)(訳注後記1)とカトリック教聖職の本分(かとりっく きょう せいしょくの ほんぶん)を保持(ほじ)し( "by preserving the true sacrifice of the Mass and the true Catholic priesthood" ),信仰を守るかを示す(しんこうを まもるかを しめす)ため( "to show us how to keep the Faith" )神が私たちに与えられた人物(わたしたちに あたえられた じんぶつ)がいるとすれば,その人は間違(まちが)いなくルフェーブル大司教(1950-1991年)(るふぇーぶる だいしきょう)( "Archbishop Lefebvre (1905-1991) " )です( "If there was one man given to us by God to show us how to keep the Faith in stricken times, by preserving the true sacrifice of the Mass and the true Catholic priesthood, that man was certainly Archbishop Lefebvre (1905-1991)." ).そして,第二公会議派の牧者たち(だいに こうかいぎはの ぼくしゃたち)( “the Consiliar Shepherds” )が教会にもたらした災難(きょうかいに もたらした さいなん)( “the disaster” )は大司教が存命中の頃(ぞんめいちゅうの ころ)から本質的(ほんしつ てき)になにも変(か)わっていないため,彼が話され,書き残されたこと(はなされ,かき のこされた こと)は本質的にそのまま現代(げんだい)にも当て(あて)はまります( "And since the disaster wrought upon the Church by the Conciliar Shepherds has not essentially changed since his time, then what he said and wrote applies essentially today, …" ).

聖ピオ十世会( "the Society of St Pius X" = SSPX" ) が1970年から1990年までルフェーブル大司教( "Archibishop Lefebvre" )のもとで維持(いじ)されてきた状態からざっと過去15年間に起きた状態に転落してしまったのはきわめて恐るべきことです( "The fall of the Society of St Pius X from what it was under Archbishop Lefebvre between 1970 and 1991 to what it has become over the last, say, 15 years, is little short of horrible." ). 理解するということは赦(ゆる)すことであり,私たちはすべて赦すことを求められて今日のような結果になったのでしょう( "In a brief series let us see firstly why the horror is normal in the poor world around us, because to understand is to forgive, and we are all in need of forgiveness; …" ). それは落胆(らくたん)するためではなく,間違いなく次に起こりうるもっと悪いことに備(そな)え私たちの気を引き締(し)めるためです( "… secondly let us face the horror, not in order to be discouraged but on the contrary in order to gird our loins for worse almost certainly to come; …" ). 神の天国では,神はけっして私たちに為(な)すすべが何もないようにされていないはずだからです(ただし,私たちは手元(てもと)にわずかに残っている水をすべて砂漠〈さばく〉に流し込むようなことをしないことが大切です)( "… and thirdly let us see what we can do to gird our loins, because beneath God’s Heaven he cannot have left us with nothing that we can do (but in this connection it is important not to pour into the sand the little water that we have). " ).カトリック教徒の3人の心ある人々が私たちの時代をどのように見抜(みぬ)いたかを振り返り,この恐ろしい状態がなぜ当たり前のことになったかを理解することから始めましょう( "Let us begin with three fine Catholic minds taking the measure of our age, to see why horror is today the norm. " ).
教皇レオ13世( "Pope Leo XIII" )は1884年に発せられたフリーメーソンに関する偉大な回勅(かいちょく)のなかで,その邪悪な原理原則がいかにカトリック教会を無視し( # 13),傷(きず)つけ( # 14),破滅させ( # 15),さらにあらゆる有益な宗教( "all positive religions" )の破滅(はめつ)( # 16)からあらゆる自然宗教( "all natural religion" )の破滅( # 17),神の創造,摂理(せつり),霊魂の不滅(ふめつ)といった偉大な自然の真理の破滅へ導くかに注意を喚起(かんき)されています( # 18)( "In his great Encyclical letter of 1884 on Freemasonry, Pope Leo XIII marks how its evil principles advance from (#13) disregarding to (#14) injuring to (#15) destroying the Catholic Church, and then from (#16) the ruin of all positive religions to (#17) the ruin of all natural religion to (#18) the ruin of great natural truths such as God’s Creation and Providence and the immortality of the soul." 人の心は泥沼(どろぬま)にはまってしまい,歴代の教皇,枢機卿,司教たちの心といえども例外ではありません( "In the 21st century we have, logically, gone further still, namely to the ruin of the very notion of truth. Minds have been turned into mush, even the minds of Popes, Cardinals and Bishops." ).
教皇聖ピオ10世は1907年の近代主義( "Modernism",モダニズム )に関する偉大な回勅(かいちょく)のなかで,近代主義者たちが同じようにあらゆる真理,思想を破滅させたと明言されました( "In his great Encyclical letter of 1907 on Modernism, Pope St Pius X saw clearly the same ruin of all truth and thought by the modernists." ). の中で同教皇は思いつく最も強い表現を用(もち)いて近代主義者たちがカトリック信仰の堕落(だらく)をもたらす手段(しゅだん)とする心の堕落を厳(きび)しく非難(ひなん)しました( "It is beneath the dignity of Popes to shout, but in Pascendi Pius X uses the strongest expressions available to him to castigate the mind-rot by which the modernists rot out the Catholic Faith." ).教皇は多くの言葉を使って近代主義は我慢(がまん)の限界だと糾弾(きゅうだん)しています( "In so many words he says that modernism is the end of the line." ).同教皇の劇的な警告(けいこく)が功を奏し(こうをそうし),カトリック教会は半世紀ほど救われました( "His dramatic warning obtained for the Church a reprieve of half a century, …" ).だが,教会から締め出(しめだ)されたはずの信仰の腐敗(ふはい)は,教皇ヨハネ23世,教皇パウロ6世のもとで教会の公式教理に変えられてしまったのです!( "… but with Vatican II the Faith-rot that he had flung out of the Church was by John XXIII and Paul VI made official doctrine within the Church ! " ) 歴代の教皇が心を失(うしな)ったとしたら,単なる修道院長たちが心を失っても不思議ではありません.( "If Popes lose their minds, how should mere Superiors not do so? " ).
第二バチカン公会議がカトリック教教理にもたらした大惨事(だいさんじ)を見抜(みぬ)いた3人目の心あるカトリック信徒はロマーノ・アメリオ ( "Romano Amerio" ) です( "A third Catholic mind, measuring the havoc wrought upon Catholic doctrine by Vatican II, was that of Romano Amerio, …" ).彼はイタリア人の平信徒ですが,ルフェーブル大司教はかつて彼の現代における諸々の過(あやま)ちについての分析(ぶんせき),Iota Unum (訳注:フルタイトル= "Iota Unum: A Study of Changes in the Catholic Church in the 20th Century by Romano Amerio" )を高く評価されました( "… an Italian layman whose analysis of modern errors, Iota Unum, was highly praised by Archbishop Lefebvre." ). ( "At one point Amerio says (could somebody find me the reference ?) that if things continue on the same path as now, eventually it will become impossible to speak or write any more, all that will remain is to keep silent ! Paul Craig Roberts" )は執筆(しっぴつ)活動をほとんど停止(ていし)してしまいました( "This may seem unimaginable, but only recently a very good commentator in the USA, Dr Paul Craig Roberts, almost stopped writing, …" ).彼の眼には,一般市民のなかに考えることができる,あるいは考えようとするものがいなくなってきたように映(うつ)ったからです( "… because it had seemed to him that there was no longer any public able or willing to think. " ).
正(まさ)に,現在は反キリスト教運動 "Antichrist" のドレス・リハーサルが進行中です( "Truly, in this present dress rehearsal for the Antichrist, …" ). XXIV, 22), we could all of us lose our minds and our faith." ).そうなったとしたら,心を失いつつある教皇や司教に誰が最初の石を投げつける気になるでしょうか?( "Then who may still feel inclined to throw the first stone at a Pope or Bishop today losing his mind ? " )
VII, 1), …" ).これは,誤(あやま)りのない審判を下すのに必要な完全なる状況(じょうきょう)判断ができるのは神御自身だけだからです( "… because God alone has that perfect knowledge of all the circumstances which is necessary if one is to judge without error, …" ).だが,神は同時に私たちに真の牧者(=羊飼い)と傭兵(ようへい)の違い,すなわち羊(ひつじ)と羊の衣(ころも)をまとった狼(おおかみ)との違いを見抜くよう教えられています(マテオ聖福音書:第7章15節)(訳注後記3)( "… at the same time Our Lord commands us to judge-discern between true shepherds and mercenaries, or between sheep and wolves in sheeps’ clothing (Mt. VII, 15)." ). ).そういうわけで次回のエレイソン・コメンツでは現在 SSPX 内部で起きている恐るべき状態について考えてみることにします( "… and that is why we will soon take another look at the horror now taking place within the Society of St Pius X. " ).

Christ foretells the destruction of the temple, with the signs that shall come before it, and before the last judgement. We must always watch.
AND Jesus being come out of the temple, went away. And his disciples came to shew him the buildings of the temple.
And he answering, said to them: Do you see all these things? Amen I say to you there shall not be left here a stone upon a stone that shall not be destroyed.
And when he was sitting on mount Olivet, the disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the consummation of the world?
And Jesus answering, said to them: Take heed that no man seduce you:
Et Jésus répondant, leur dit : Prenez garde que quelqu'un ne vous séduise ;
For many will come in my name saying, I am Christ: and they will seduce many.
And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places:
Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake.
And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another.
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many.
And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold.
But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.

And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened.

For as lightning cometh out of the east, and appeareth even into the west: so shall the coming of the Son of man be.

And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be moved:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all tribes of the earth mourn: and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty.

And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, even till that day in which Noe entered into the ark,
And they knew not till the flood came, and took them all away; so also shall the coming of the Son of man be.
Then two shall be in the field: one shall be taken, and one shall be left.

Duæ molentes in mola : una assumetur, et una relinquetur.
Watch ye therefore, because ye know not what hour your Lord will come.
Vigilate ergo, quia nescitis qua hora Dominus vester venturus sit.
But know this ye, that if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open.
Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come.
Who, thinkest thou, is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath appointed over his family, to give them meat in season.

VER. 29. The stars. Or flaming meteors resembling stars.
VER. 30. The sign, etc. The cross of Christ.
